About Robert
I, Robert Smith, decided to start Solar Tech Town mid-way into making my very
own custom made solar panel. My major is computer engineering, and while doing a
college project, I decided I wanted to learn more about solar panels. My main
push I believe was watching numerous videos on YouTube explaining different
types of solar panels, how solar cells work, and how to build a solar panel.
However, each video or article I found on the internet was usually lacking to
show the full step process of building a solar panel from square one to actually
mounting it to the roof and using other devices (inverter, deep cycle battery,
etc.). You would basically have to watch 3 or 4 different videos to get an idea
of how to go about creating a solar panel from scratch. I just believed there
should be a video made that’s “free” to view that explains the whole
process in a DIY format.
My goal was to be one of the first to make such a video that was free to public
viewing.
Solar power appears to be the waive of the future, and having the type of major that I do, I really
believe that it was wise that I increase my own knowledge to learn about solar
devices. I eventually want to move to other ways of receiving energy for free,
but solar panels seem more popular and what the majority use. For me, it’s just
amazing to be able to power some of my home appliances such as my Macbook
computer, LCD TV, Radio, and other devices off of pure solar energy. I mean,
it’s not like I never heard about solar power or what it could do, but when you
actually take the time to invest money and take the incentive to try out solar
power devices. you’re just astonished by the results. I must say, it can become
addictive once you either buy your first solar panel or build one, and actually
hook it up and it works. To know you are saving a huge amount off your electric
bill, and that you are in control of your own power has a tremendous effect on
how you think about anything that uses power.
I honestly would just recommend anyone that has a little interest in either
looking into solar power or wanting to learn how to create solar power devices
to go for it, as believe it or not, it’s very easy to do with all the tutorials,
videos, online communities, and and a great blog like Solar Tech Town around.
